SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Samford's Lauren Blankenship finished ninth in the 5,000-meters Friday night at the NCAA Championships at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.

Blankenship set a new school record, running the race in a time of 16:03.22. The time breaks the record of 16:06, set by Blankenship in Wednesday's preliminary race.

With her finish, Blankenship earned All-America honors in the 5,000-meters for the second time, as she became the program's first Division I All-American in 2005.
