KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ---- The Samford University track and field team completed competition at the 2006 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, Tenn. Two Bulldogs competed in Saturday's event, as April Howell competed in the women's triple jump and Michelle Brewer ran in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase.

Brewer, a senior distance runner, finished second in her heat and 16th overall in the event, posting a time of 10:53.72. The time is Brewer's second-fastest in steeplechase.

Howell turned in a leap of 39'01.25'' in the women's triple jump on Friday. The senior was fifth in her flight, but 17th overall. The marks for both Brewer and Howell did not advance them to the 2006 NCAA Championships.
