ATLANTA, Ga. - Selected members of the Samford University track and field teams completed regular-season play at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday-Saturday, May 13-14.

Competing for Samford, Jessica Brewer took fifth place overall in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:08.18, while Michael Hanson took 15th in the same event on the men's side (10.11.62).

In the men's discus throw, Derek Simmons finished eighth with a toss of 150-04.

In the women's 5000m run, Michelle Brewer took ninth with a time of 17:59.15, while Britney Almaguer placed 11th with a time of 18:09.17.

April Howell finished the women's triple jump in 16th place with a mark of 38-10, while Michael Smith finished the 400m hurdles in 14th place overall with a time of 51.11.

The Bulldogs have completed regular-season play, while Lauren Blankenship (5000m), Michael Smith (400m intermediate hurdles) and Jessica Brewer (3000m steeplechase) will head to the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships, May 27-28. The competition will be hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. Meet times are TBA.
