ATLANTA, Ga. ---- The Samford University track and field teams turned in solid performances in their final meet before the NCAA Regional Championships. Michelle Brewer and Michael Smith both improved their qualifying marks, setting school records in the process.

Brewer ran a 10:47.61 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Brewer's time beat her twin sister Jessica Brewer's school record time of 10:59.55.

Smith beat his own school record in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Smith ran a 51.53 in the event, improving from his previous school record of 51.90 set in 2005.

The Bulldogs return to action, when they head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the 2006 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on May 26-27.
