Track And Field Sits In Third Place To Complete Day One Of O'Reilly/ OVC Championships, Friday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Samford University track and field teams completed day one of the O'Reilly/ OVC Championships on Friday (April 6). The competition was hosted by Austin Peay State University at the APSU Governor's Stadium. For day one, both Samford teams finished in third place. The women's team scored 28 points, while the men's team finished the day with 23 points.
Also competing well on the women's side, Laura Malnati placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5-07, while Kady Decker finished the 400m hurdles in third place with a time of 1:04.55. On the men's side, Bryan Baddorf finished as Samford's top performer for the day with a second-place finish in the 10,000m run (31:20.22). Also competing well on the men's side, Robert Weaver finished in a three-way tie for third place in the high jump with a leap of 6-05, while Patrick Weaver placed fourth in the 800m run (1:52.18). Samford's Chad Johnson finished in fourth place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:37.00, while Michael Smith took fifth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.93. The Bulldogs will continue tomorrow (May 7) at the O'Reilly/ OVC Championships, hosted by Austin Peay State University at the APSU Governors' Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn. Saturday's competition is set for a 10 a.m. start.
