ATHENS, Ga. -- The Samford University track and field team won three events, broke two of Samford's All-time records and finished four Bulldogs in the top eight of the 1500m run today (April 23) at the Spec Towns Invitational. The meet was hosted by the University of Georgia at Spec Towns Track, as Samford's leaders for the day were Bryan Baddorf, Jessica Brewer, Laura Malnati and Lauren Blankenship.

Baddorf won the individual crown in the men's 5000m with a time of 15.09, while Malnati tied for first place in the women's high jump with a leap of 5-07. J. Brewer won the women's 3000m steeplechase with a Samford all-time record time of 10.59, while Blankenship placed second in the women's 1500m with a Samford all-time record time of 4.32.

Also running in the women's 1500m, Robyn DeBenedet finished fourth with a time of 4.40, Britney Almaguer placed fifth with a time of 4.43 and Michelle Brewer finished eighth with a time of 4.54.

Also performing well for the Bulldogs, Robert Weaver finished third overall in the men's high jump (6-05), while Patrick Weaver placed fourth overall in the men's 800m (1.53.05) and Chad Johnson took a fourth place finish in the men's 3000m steeplechase (9.38).

The Bulldogs will head to the 2005 OVC Outdoor Championships on Friday-Saturday, May 6-7, hosted by Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. Meet start times are TBA.
