NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---- The Samford track and field team wrapped up competition Saturday in the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. The Bulldogs competed with over 50 teams from across the Southeast in the two-day event.

Michael Smith highlighted the action for Samford in day two as he placed ninth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.33. Will Denton finished 12th in the men's 800-meter event, running a time of 1:54.50 while Asa Ackerson came in 19th in the men's high jump with a height of 5'10".

On the women's side, Lauren Blankenship took 15th place in the women's 800-meter race with a time of 2:15.79. Friday, Blankenship broke a Samford record in the women's 1500-meter race, running a time of 14:31.07 to place third in the event.

Kady Decker placed 18th in the women's 400-meter hurdles Saturday (1:06.96) while Morgan Tyler finished 19th in the triple jump with a jump of 36'2.25".

The Bulldogs will be back in action in two weeks as they compete in the OVC Outdoor Championships May 4-5, in Charleston, Ill.
