STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Samford University track and field team competed today (April 16) at the Jace Lacoste Invitational, hosted by Mississippi State at the Carl Maddox Track. The top Bulldog performer for the day was junior Michelle Brewer, as she took the individual crown in the 5000m with a time of 18:08.

Making their personal-best mark, Michael Hanson finished the 3000m steeplechase in second place with a time of 9.31, while while Kevin Carnall finished the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.42.

On the women's side, Robyn DeBenedet placed fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4.39, while Britney Almaguer placed fifth in the same event with a time of 4.42. Laura Malnati placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-04, while Tiffany London finished the 200m in fifth place with a time of 25.35. Mary Nunnally placed fifth in the 400m with a time 57.09, while Starr Gager finished the 800m with a time of 2.22 for fifth-place overall.

On the men's side, Drew Anderwald placed third in the 5000m with a time of 15.25, while Hanson finished the same event in fifth place with a time of 15.38. Robert Weaver took a third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6-05, while Patrick Weaver finished the 800m in fifth with a time of 1.56.04 . Michael Smith placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.94, while finishing the 110m hurdles in fifth place with a time of 15.15. Jon Londeen finished the pole vault in fourth place with a leap of 14-00, while Eric Holsomback placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 151-09.

 

 

The Bulldogs will compete at Georgia on Saturday, April 23 in Athens, Ga. Meet time is TBA.
