Final Stats

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Freshman LaToya Cunningham set the school record in the 400 meters and the women's 4x400 meter relay team also set a school best as the men and women's teams won 10 events at the Samford Invitational at Seibert Stadium on Saturday.

Cunningham's 400 meter time was also a personal best, and she also finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.06.

Other winners for the women included Leah Reed in the 800 meters (2:17.08), Katie Flewellyn in the 1500 meters (4:44.82) and Lauren Cole in the high jump (5'04.00").

Several others Bulldog women ran well. In the 1500 meters, co-captains Alice and Abbey McGough finished sixth (5:07.35) and seventh (5:09.76) respectively. In the 3000 meters, Erin Giesa finished fourth (11:03.29) and Jackie Sharpe placed seventh (11:24.21).

Stephanie Flarity finished third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.98) and Angela Smith placed second in the triple jump (36'09.00"). Sarah Clement finished second (35'06.00") and Hannah Smith placed forth (34'03.50") in the shot put. Clement also finished fourth (35.57 meters) in the discus.

For the men, freshman John Williams claimed the 100 meter title and finished just .01 shy of the school record.

Other winners for the men included Josh Jones in the pole vault (4.42 meters), Derek Simmons in the discus throw (42.38 meters) and Daniel Balena in the javelin (56.78 meters). Jones also finished second in the 400 meter hurdles (56.15) and Balena was third in the pole vault (3.96 meters).

 

 

In the 400 meters, David Henson finished third with a time of 49.10 and James Drake placed seventh (50.98).

Paul von Herrmann finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.70, along with Chad Johnson (2:03.27) in ninth and Brett Baddorf (2:04.21) in tenth in the top half of the field.

The Bulldogs finished 1-2-3 in the 3000 meters, led by freshman Bryan Baddorf in first (8:43.05), followed by Andrew Spear (8:51.36) and Mark Rowe (8:57.91).

The Bulldog men and women travel to Troy, Ala., to compete in the Atlantic Sun Track and Field Championship, held at Troy State Fri., Apr. 19 and Sat., Apr. 20.
