TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ---- Samford distance runner Lauren Pilcher got the Bulldogs off to a strong start Friday in the first day of the Alabama Relays. Pilcher finished sixth in the 10K.

The freshman ran the 10,000-meter race for the first time on Friday. She clocked a time of 40:42.37 for a sixth-place finish.

The Alabama Relays will pick back up tomorrow with the bulk of the events including jumps, vault and steeplechase. For results and a recap of tomorrow action, go to www.samfordsports.com.
