Jan. 31, 2004
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Samford indoor track and field team broke seven schools records at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in Lexington, Ky. on Friday and Saturday. The men broke one record and the women six in the opening meet of the 2004 indoor season. "For the first meet of the year we did better than I expected," Head Coach Glenn McWaters said. "We really didn't know what to expect coming in and I am very pleased with the way everybody performed." The only record broken by the men was by Bryan Baddorf, who broke the record in the 3000m held previously by his brother Brett Baddorf with a time of 8:39. Jennifer Craig broke her own record in the 200m with a time of 24.59 for third place overall and second among collegiate runners. She also broke the 60m twice, once in qualifying and again in the finals with a time of 7.58 for second place overall. April Howell finished fifth overall with a school-record time of 8.77 in the 60m hurdles, breaking her own record. Laura Malnati broke the school-record in the high jump with a mark of 5'4.25 and the women's 4x400m relay team finished second overall with a school-record time of 3:59.
