LEXINGTON, Ky. ---- The Samford University track and field team concluded day one of the Rod McCravy Invitational, hosted by the University of Kentucky, with two top-10 finishes and a school record.

Pole vaulter Cameron Cardwell finished second overall in the event, breaking her own school record with a mark of 10'11 ¾''.

April Howell finished sixth overall in the triple jump, with a mark of 36'9 ¾''.

"I was just really pleased with Cameron and April's performances tonight," said Samford head coach Glenn McWaters. "They did really well and they're off to a good start for the indoor season. I'm looking forward to seeing how we do tomorrow."

Additionally, in the men's weight throw, freshman Joshua Cutbirth finished 12th overall, with a throw of 37'5 ¾''.
