Greg McLain enters his first year as a member of the Samford athletics staff. McLain will serve as the academic advisor for the Samford football program.

McLain comes to Samford after completing his Masters of Science degree in sports management from the University of Alabama in May.

While working on his Masters at Alabama, McLain served as a recruiting/operations graduate assistant from Spring 2006 to Spring 2007. He was also an assistant NFL liaison/assistant camp director at Alabama from Spring 2006 to December 2006. In December 2006, McLain was an offensive video graduate assistant at Alabama.

McLain served as an assistant football coach at Tuscaloosa Academy from in 2005. At Tuscaloosa Academy, he coached the tight ends and defensive ends, served as an assistant strength coach and assisted with the school's football camp.

McLain graduated from Alabama with his B.S. in general studies m December 2005. He lettered on the football team at Alabama as a fullback and tight end from 2002 to 2005, helping lead the Crimson Tide to two bowl appearances.
