Grant Lyons enters his fifth year as a member of the athletics staff and his third as assistant director of athletics for marketing. Lyons oversees marketing, promotions, game operations and home event management, and ticket sales. He also serves as the administrator for Samford's cheerleading and mascot program. He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators [NACMA]. Lyons also is a part-time adjunct instructor in the Department of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine [ESSM], teaching tennis. Previously, Lyons worked as an authorized dealer field manager for W. R. Case and Sons Cutlery Company in his hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. He also served as a police officer with the Homewood Police Department. Lyons worked as a game-day marketing assistant at Samford during the 2004 football season. In his role as marketing assistant, he managed the Samford online store along with its student employees, and he managed the sponsorship tents during football games. While a student at Samford, Lyons served as a supervisor and instructor for the intramural athletics program. He also was a member of Samford's men's tennis team. A 2004 Samford graduate, Lyons is married to a fellow Samford graduate, Director of the Samford Bulldog Club, Vaughan Lyons. The couple has one daughter, Maggie Grace, born Aug. 3, 2009. |
