Wayne Kendrick enters his eighth year as head athletics trainer at Samford. A 1970 graduate of Samford, he returned to his alma mater in 1996 after serving as one of the few athletics trainers in Alabama high schools for 26 years in the Jefferson County and Hoover City School systems.

Kendrick has earned many honors, including induction into the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame in 2001. A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 1971, he has received the NATA Service Award and was the first recipient of the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association's High School Athletic Trainer of the Year.

Kendrick currently serves as secretary to the Alabama Board of Athletic Training. He has served as a board member since 1994.

Nationally, Kendrick serves on the Ethics Committee of the NATA. He also served as an athletics trainer for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Kendrick earned a master of arts from the University of Alabama. He is married to the former Donna Merrill of Mobile, Ala. They have two adult sons, Dale and Kent.
